Can highly recommend a walk to this lovely castle. There are 2 options getting to the castle, one steep but shorter and the other slightly longer but not as steep initially. Gorgeous views of Stein am Rhein. There is a great little restaurant at the top of the castle. Toilets are there too. Definitely a must see if you go to canton Schaffhausen. Accessing Stein am Rhein from Schaffhausen Main Train station is easy to access via a 30 minute train ride , you can also access Stein am Rhein via boat through various cruise companies (I would suggest to look online for timetables). Truly is a perfect day out for some great walking activity , fresh air and stunning views and scenery.

The Burg Hohenklingen is an amazingly enticing sight above the little hamlet of Stein am Rhein, so we decided to hike up to try the restaurant. One of the owners Pia was so accommodating, found us a nice table and we settled in for a celestial culinary treat. Well worth the trip no matter how you arrive!

What a phenomenal view over Stein am Rhein! On top in a historically well preserved place that doesn't have it alikes. Also the food and service very nice, so don't hesitate for a romantic or group diner if you're into a special experience.

Almost everything is top quality. Excellent food, location, decoration. Wine selection and how they designed the menu with lots of Swiss ingredients. If you don’t have allergenic reactions to highly controlling, overpowering, slightly annoying female waitress (hope we came a cross with the wrong one) then you would really enjoy this restaurant.

We had an amazing group lunch at Burg Hohenklingen! Pia and her team were exceptional — patient, professional, organized, and incredibly flexible. They even went the extra mile to arrange a last-minute surprise for a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary, which made the moment truly unforgettable. The food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding, and the entire group enjoyed the experience to the maximum. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a seamless and memorable dining experience in a beautiful setting!

This restaurant is a MUST! The White wine soup, stroganoff and boeuf special, delicious! Service great, chefs A1 and management so engaging. Location.. breathtaking! I Can only imagine how good it would be in summer. Thanks for the memorable experience.

Accessible on foot, by bike or road. You'll miss half the views if you don't hike the hill. Nice food in the restaurant at a price though. Climb the tower to see the best views and explore all the rooms in the castle including the dungeon.

Amaaazing! Being at the top of stein am Rhine, the views of the charming town, Rhine river flowing through the super green hills with clear blue skies in early September, the feeling and views are fantastic. The food—high quality! The prosciutto sandwich was super delicious paired well with the fresh salad, fresh pickle and cherry tomato, and mini white sweet onion. Now the lentil bacon soup with delicious bread—best tender, soft bacon in my life. Not your typical American fried pieces of bacon served during breakfast. The bacon pieces tasted amazing. The ice lemonade was also super refreshing. Cafe ice cream and apricot cake with light fresh cream—delicious! All in all, one of top meals here in Swiss thus far! Well done!
